New Lens: Tokina 11-16mm

This past summer my friend Paul Schuster from austinmodhouse.com recommended the Tokina 11-16mm, when I was searching for an ultra wide and low light lens. I wanted a super cool lens for my month-long European Honeymoon. I ended up renting a Nikon 14mm from borrowlenses.com for this Europe trip; I absolutely fell in love with it! It was sharp, wide, simply awesome, and unfortunately, out of my budget to own.  The Tokina 11-16mm seemed to fit my bill after much research.  My hubby pull the trigger and I received my new lens this weekend for my birthday!

I haven't done much shooting with it yet, but so far I like it. My only concern is that I will be using it to shoot some events for SXSW and my D40 body does not allow AF. I usually never use the AF feature- even when it is available- but I am afraid with all the movement of bands I will have to shoot twice the shots! I guess I just have to practice and perfect my form with the tools I have. I will also have the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 available for SXSW, so I should be safely covered.

Thank you Matt for all the love!
